The Essex County DMR Society will be launching a Sunday night DMR net using the Ontario provincial talkgroup starting on April 13th at 9:00pm ET. With astounding growth in DMR across Ontario, the hams in Essex County decided to begin a DMR version of their longstanding VHF net, the Essex Country VHF Sunday Night Net, which began in the 1960’s when FM repeaters were starting to emerge in this area southwestern Ontario.

“DMR activity is growing everywhere and ham radio ops in the Windsor and Essex County region held a successful general check in net last Sunday evening.” said Bill Leal, VE3ES. “The thinking is to see just how much interest there is throughout the province in general and an attempt to get more interest in using the Ontario talkgroup in particular by holding this week’s net on the provincial talk group.” added Leal.

For anyone interested in jointing the Essex County DMR Society Sunday Night Net, simply tune into the Ontario talk group (timeslot 2, talkgroup 3023) using your favourite Ontario DMR repeater. For a full list of DMR repeaters in Ontario, check out the DMR Repeater Map.
